Cindy and Steve Peterson, the owner/operators of The Lake Inn at Mt. Sunapee, purchased the motel in May of 2011. The motel was built into the hillside overlooking Lake Sunapee in 1955 by Werner Johnson. It was originally named The White Birch Motel which was owned and operated by the Johnson family until the 1970's. It was later known as The Hospitality Motel in the 1980s and The Lakeview Motor Lodge in the 1990's. The motel was in disrepair when we purchased it and we have worked tirelessly to bring it back to life. The main reason we purchased this motel was the location and view. Every room has a large picture window that overlooks Lake Sunapee. Many guests have said, "You have a million-dollar view!"
During our ownership, we have replaced all of the comfort items, i.e. mattress/box springs, pillows, linens, comforters and room darkening draperies. We have had major purchases including the furnace, windows, doors, subfloors, carpets and linoleum. We have renovated the bathrooms with tile floors, new tub surrounds and refinished bathtubs. We added a paved lower level parking area, a fire pit and a new stone patio seating area to the main level.
We operate the motel as our tag line states, "The Hospitality of an Inn, Hidden in a Motel". We take pride in every room being clean and comfortable and we work hard to ensure that every guest has a wonderful stay. Should you need anything while you are staying with us, you just need to ask.
We look forward to welcoming you to The Lake Inn at Mt. Sunapee.
